paths led them both to a homicide investigation in Chesterfield County, Virginia. As the
Watch Commander, the accomplished senior officer was delivering the press briefing to
the local media.
Steve was immediately impressed with the young fellow who set up the CBS 6
camera. The questions he posed were relevant, logical, and right on point. It was obvious
that the self-assured, youthful newsman was both prepared and poised. The internal
confidence commingling with recognizable professionalism caught the veteran lawman’s
interest.
Since that first fateful encounter, the Lawman and the Crime Reporter have
collaborated on many high-profile assignments. Jon often relies on Steve to be his expert
crime analyst when it comes to producing crime and cold case stories for local news
programming. Steve offers insight and analysis that gets straight to the point and turns
out to be “dead on” 99.9 percent of the time.
Shared work values and skills facilitate a deep respect between Jon and Steve that has
blossomed into a great friendship.
